Job Summary

The Business Development Representative (BDR) are the inside sales arm of Fowler High Precision. BDR’s are assigned to various inside sales activities based on their knowledge and abilities such as, but not limited to: experience, product knowledge, customer knowledge, communication skills, salesmanship, etc. The goal of the BDR is to help their sales team achieve targets sales and profit goals by maintaining a positive, productive, and helpful working relationship with Fowler’s customers, sales teams, and associates. BDR’s share regional sales targets with their team monthly and quarterly.

Responsibilities and Duties

  • Inbound and Outbound sales call activity (30-60 calls per day - primarily inbound for first 4-6 months)
  • Confirm accuracy of processed sales orders.
  • Over time become a subject matter expert in Metrology equipment and applications.
  • Collaborate and communicate efficiently with the BDR Manager and Outside Sales Team.
  • Ensure follow-ups by passing leads to Outside Sales Team.
  • The BDR will go through technical training and based on ability/proficiency, growth both professionally and through stepped compensation.
  • Handle inbound, unsolicited prospect calls and convert them into sales.
  • Emphasize products/service features and benefits, quote prices and prepare sales order forms and/or reports.
  • Work with the Mobile Showroom Coordinator to strategically maneuver our Mobile Showrooms to help drive sales and reach new customers.
  • The BDR role is designed to groom the right person to transition in an Outside Sales Engineer, where they can strategically sell on a much higher and more technical level.


  • BS/BA Degree in Engineering (preferred), Mathematics, or Business
  • Self-motivated, with high energy and an engaging level of enthusiasm
  • Strong problem identification and objection resolution skills.
  • Excellent communicating, listening and writing skills.
  • Able to perform basic calculations and mathematical figures.
  • Previous experience with sales and CRM/ERP software.
